Born in the states to Cuban parents, I was an Air Force brat who traveled a lot and I've lived in some wonderful and amazing places. Most of my younger years were spent in Puerto Rico and Miami, though as an adult I've lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York City, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. As you can imagine all of that has given me a perspective on cultures and people from all walks of life to which I am so grateful.
Currently, I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where my fiance, and fellow ZIN™ Maggy and I share a blended family of 4 girls from the age of 2 through 12. The story of how we met is a long and funny one, but when I first met her at a Zumba® Tradeshow event in 2019, I knew I was in trouble. We are both Believers and are scheduled to get married in the fall of 2021.
My love of Zumba® came from an "I dare you to do a class" comment made to me back in 2016. From that moment on, like most of you, I was hooked! I felt like I had found my community, my passion, and I immediately wanted to begin teaching it so I could share my joy of dance and fitness with everyone I could. On my Birthday in 2017, I became a licensed instructor by Cheryl Wu-Hall.
My road to becoming a ZJ™ was fueled by the amazing Choreo Jammer, and friend, Court Ackerman. I still remember that day in 2018 when I decided to go further in my Zumba® career like it was yesterday - it was during Pro Skills with Guillermo Melendez and Court. It is there when I realized that I love not just the technical side of choreography, but the education one as well. It was a long process, but after years of learning, practicing, and applying, I was honored to be accepted as a Choreo ZJ™ in March of 2021.
Besides the usuals like Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Reggaeton - I love new and interesting fusions, sounds, beats, and rhythms that add that "something different" to our Zumba® classes - especially hard-hitting beats that just make the body want to move. A few rhythms you can expect from me are Moomhahton, Soca, Bhangra, Afrobeat, Desi Hip-Hop, and K-Pop to name a few. Because of this you can say that I have a very eclectic taste when it comes to music which guarantees classes feel distinct and unique, making students want to come back for more. One last thing, I like to get swexy!
